JESSY GREENE Beats created on an MPC 2000, melancholy vocals and dark string arrangements define Ameritronica, the unique result of Jessy Greene's muscial journey. Incorporating years of classical violin training and a degree from UCLA in ethnomusicology, Jessy has created her own sound. Dark and romantic with a rock & roll attitude, it is a unique blend of organic and inorganic sonic elements. Upon graduating from UCLA, Jessy joined the PETER HIMMELMAN 'Skin' tour, playing violin and singing backup. Upon returning to Los Angeles, jessy joined the GERALDINE FIBBERS on violin and vocals. With the Fibbers, Jessy recorded two critically acclaimed albums for Virgin Records, 1995's 'Lost Somewhere Between the Earth and My Home' and 1997's 'Butch'. In 1997, Jessy relocated to Minneapolis, joining forces with THE JAYHAWKS and performing on their album 'Sound of Lies' and the tour that followed. She also performed extensively with the Jayhawk's related super group the Golden Smog, and contributed her talents to their 1998 album 'Wierd Tales'. She also turned up on WILCO's 'Being There' and the AFGAN WHIGS' '1965. 1999 saw the formation of Jessy Greene & VioVoom. Finally out in front and performing her own material, Jessy make the transition from supporting cast to frontwoman look easy. During the last year Jessy has been a busy girl. With the help of Tom Merkl of IFFY, she recorded her first album, 'BLUE SKY,' all on computer. She also found time to lend her violin skills to an impressive list of artists including WILCO once again for their first single, 'Jesus, etc.' off of their blockbuster album 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.' Other projects included recording with The MINUS 5, BELLWETHER, MARK MALLMAN and IFFY as well as live performances with Wilco, The Minus 5, Soul Asylum and many more.
