Genre: Experimental (Noise), Rock

On his second album, Melbourne-based songwriter Tim Richmond has again teamed up with producer Nick Huggins (Kid Sam, Love Connection, Mick Turner) to craft a work of curious beauty. Drawing on stark imagery and intriguing narratives, Richmond's experimental-pop vignettes drift at times into unsettling, sparse arrangements. However, there's nothing random or unconsidered about Dot; the songs have been meticulously shaped, guided by an aesthetic which is the product of all the artist has heard, seen, felt, read and experienced over the years. The words are concise; the music, melodic, and dynamic, while the production provides texture and dimension. Kishore Ryan (Kid Sam, Otouto) contributes a skewed angle to the drumming. Buoyed by it's haunting melodies and beguiling Flying Nun-like understatement, Dot would sit comfortably alongside distinctively antipodean albums like the Moles' Untune the Sky and the Chills' Kaleidoscope World.
