UK recording of the revived Broadway favorite Cabaret recorded in 1997 and featuring Toyah Wilcox and Nigel Planer. Cabaret was first produced for stage in 1966, followed six years later by the motion picture starring Liza Minnelli. This version follows the much-preferred original theatrical production. Cabaret is set in pre-second World War Berlin and based on the diaries of Christopher Isherwood. It tells the story of Cliff, a writer and his acquaintance with a Cabaret performer, Sally Bowles, played here by Toyah Wilcox. The story is emphasized throughout by the eccentric and sometimes camp "EmCee" played superbly by Nigel Planer. Fabulous.
