Following it's sell-out success as a gala West End concert last year, A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe lives on in the form of a live highlights recording, released on CD. It features Olivier Award winners Stiles & Drewe themselves, fellow Olivier recipients Leanne Jones (Hairspray), Joanna Riding and Clive Rowe, pop star Gareth Gates (soon to play the title role in Joseph), musical theatre stars Julie Atherton (Avenue Q), Helena Blackman (runner-up on How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?), Daniel Boys (I'd Do Anything), Richard Dempsey, James Gillan, Lisa O'Hare (Mary Poppins UK tour), Alison Jiear (Jerry Springer), Shona Lindsay (Aspects of Love), Claire Moore, Caroline Sheen, Scarlett Strallen (Mary Poppins on Broadway), Rebecca Thornhill and Oliver Tompsett (Wicked). Celebrating 25 years of songwriting by the Olivier Award winning duo of musical theatre composer George Stiles and lyricist Anthony Drewe, A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe includes a selection of songs from their shows including Honk!, Just So, Peter Pan and Mary Poppins, as well as a wealth of previously unrecorded material and six exclusive tracks from their upcoming show, Soho Cinders, an urban twist on the classic fairytale, in which Cinderella (Gareth Gates) is running for his Prince, whilst his Prince is running for Mayor of London. A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe was produced by Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer for Speckulation Entertainment with creative direction by Paul Spicer, musical supervision by George Stiles and artistic supervision by Anthony Drewe. Recorded live at Her Majesty's Theatre in London on Sunday 6 July 2008, the recording is produced by George Stiles. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, all profits from the recording's release will go to Mercury Musical Developments, a British charity nurturing new musical theatre writing.
