Back in 2007, Deb Paul was looking for a new guitar teacher to teach at Rieman Music, where she was the studio coordinator. At the same time Dan Trilk was looking to relocate back in Norwalk with his wife and two young kids. One of Deb's high school friends told her about Dan "coming home" and his reputation preceded him. Deb had been searching for a teacher that would be great with young beginners and help coach bands in their "Garage Band" program. Dan was the perfect fit! As Dan's studio began to grow, Deb was teaching a preschool music program at her church and writing children's songs. She had a dream to write and record a children's album. She had tried to do it on her own and tried other musicians, but she just wasn't successful. Deb noticed that Dan would help his students write music in their lessons and what a great rapport Dan had with his students and their parents. She approached Dan to partner up with her and join her in her venture as Debbie Doo Wop to record a children's album. "Dynamite Dan" was born and they went right to work sharing their ideas and writing the album "Cheesy Peas". The first time they performed live together was at their CD release party in May of 2011. They immediately began writing music for their second album and performing those songs in their concerts. Deb's dream was realized when she saw their first itunes check. Deb and Dan have performed all over Des Moines and the surrounding communities. Some venues have included the Blank Park Zoo, Oviatt Elementary, Norwalk, Urbandale, West Des Moines, Clive, Polk City, Altoona, Ankeny and Pleasant Hill Libraries. Other venues include the Des Moines Social Club, Java Joes Fourth Street Theatre, Rieman Music, and many private events and parties. Debbie Doo Wop and Dynamite Dan's new album "Party", is fun, engaging and educational! They have an amazing talent of captivating the children in the audience and teaching them about music in an exciting and creative way! Dan grew up in Norwalk, Iowa and moved to California to pursue his career in music. Although he met his beautiful wife Ellen in California, she too was an Iowa native. It was an easy decision for both of them to make their home in Iowa. Dan teaches at Main Street Montessori and Middle School in Norwalk, coaches youth Rock Bands and has over 40 private students. Ellen and Dan have 2 wonderful Kids, Charlie and Quinn. Deb grew up in West Des Moines, and went to the University of Iowa to major in music and met her awesome hubby, Jason in the Hawkeye Marching band. Deb was a band director back in the Catholic schools where she was groomed. Deb now teaches Tiny Tot music classes to children at libraries, preschools and churches around the Des Moines area, and teaches privately as well. Deb and Jason have 3 fabulous kids, Emily, Ryan, and Katie.
