Latin Alternative music most anticipated release by Pomona's own power pop cuartet Pastilla titled 'HEY!' is available in the U.S. through Los Angeles based label Escuchalo Records. After a four year absence from the recording studios, the band moves forward full speed ahead. To speak of Pastilla, is to speak of the musical, lyrical gift and of the notorious Monroy brothers who have rightously matured into one of the leading 'power pop' bands of the Latin Alternative scene. Considered as one of the pioneering bands of the Los Angeles' Latin Alternative movement, Pastilla's unique blend of power pop melodies and rich lyrical content has earned them the widespread admiration of fans in the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain. Now founding members brothers Victor and Adrian Monroy (vocals & guitar), Eric Rubalcava (drums) joined by new addition Pablo Fridman (bass) recorded their third album 'Hey!' opening a new chapter in the history of the band. 'Hey!' is the groups third full length, written by the Monroy brothers. The album was in Paramount, California. Lyrically there is for the first time an even mix of Spanish and English tracks, touching on the reality based topics chronicling the lives of the unpredicatable Monroy brothers. The album offers a varierty of alternative rock flavors. From power pop stompers, to indie rock anthems, prog-rock laced riffs and highly emotional guitar driven introspective tunes. The band manages to deliver a true modern sampler of contemporary rock music. The includes the following 12 tracks: 'It's Ok', 'Ensenada', 'It's Only Me And You', 'Comezon,' 'Burning Me Inside,' 'Brillante,' 'I've Been Looking For You,' 'Sexta Extincion,' Somebody Elses Kids,' 'Hello Darling,' 'Erase,' and 'Queen of Van Nuys.' The band kicks off this new album with the single 'Comezon' (Itch) that is already hitting the airwaves simultaneosly in Mexico and the United States. 'Hey!' symbolizes the band's philosophy on their musical and personal growth. Having traveled to many different countries and visited many small towns, Pastilla symbolizes the deliberate freedom of spreading your music as far as you want regardless of any obstacles or deceptions encountered along the way. Pastilla's 'Hey!' mentality is the key to their approach to their music and their outlook on their present and future. Pastilla simultaneously released their new album under Antidoto Records and performed in Mexico City and Guadalajara. Founded in 1989 by brothers Victor & Adrian Monroy and Eric Rubalacava under the names Juana La Loca, Huevos, Excel Nova and finally under the name Pastilla when their musical career took off at an international level upon signing to BMG/Ariola Mexico. In 1996, Pastilla recorded their first self-titled debut album on the now defunct label Aztlan Records. The 14 track platter was produced by Ernesto Ramirez of L.A. icons Maria Fatal. Later Pastilla participates in various compilation albums such as 'Rock Aztaln En Vivo En L.A.', 'Despues de Hoy' (WEA Latina), 'Un Tributo' where the band recorded a version of the track 'Lagrimas' in a tribute album for Latin music's legendary singersongwriter Jose Jose. In 1998, Pastilla inked with BMG/Ariola Mexico where they record their breakthrough album 'Vox Electra,' that led them to a touring frenzy performing throughout the U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain. In 1999, Pastilla is featured on the soundtrack of the film 'A Price of Glory' with the English language hit 'Be A Star.' In 2002, Pastilla recaptures the musical moment this time around on their own terms and as instrinsic as they have always been.
