My love for song writing stems from listening to my father sing songs he had written. It is an inherited thing since my brother and sisters are also creative. The first song, 'Don't Forget Who Bought You,' comes from a deep love for things that my mother tried to teach me. The second song, 'His Name,' was written for the widow of one of my friends, who when he found out he had terminal cancer came to me and asked if I would preach his funeral. The song was intended to bring comfort to his widow. The third song,'Buelah Land You're Known As Heaven' was written because I love the song 'Buelah Land' by Squire Parsons and don't have the voice to do it justice. The fourth song, 'We're Still Made Out Of Clay,' speaks of our limitations as human beings. The fifth song, 'One Day I Was Blind,' tells of the human condition and especially mine prior to salvation. The sixth song, Salvation Of The Lord Is Always Free,' means that we can bring nothing to God except ourselves. The seventh song, 'We Can Thank Him,' was written to be a short Church Camp Song, but kind of evolved from there. The eighth song, 'What Excuse Will You Have,' reflects the human tendency to make excuses for our actions. The ninth song, The Lord's Done And Called Him Gone,' tells of four people, two who reject God and two who accept and serve Him and their eternal homes. The tenth song, 'Reunion With Mother,' I wrote about my mom as I was driving to work one morning. I thought of how she had prayed for me and the fact that she never got to see her son give his life over to Jesus whom she loved so much. The last song, 'Three Nails And A Cross,' is a song that no amount of words can explain. Nothing can express the magnitude of the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross and His resurrection. You just have to hear it.
