Alma Micic Quartet serves up a delightful take on timeless standards, embellished by an original, and a version of the Romany anthem "Solnishko", with visions of a dreamy night, both sentimental and hopeful. Songs inspired by dancing in the moonlight, till the sunrise comes, Alma's new album That Old Feeling will leave you with a sweet feeling. Vocalist Alma Micic was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia. At the age of 16 she started performing with a local quartet at a time when jazz was making a comeback in Belgrade. Soon she became a featured vocalist with the Radio Belgrade Big Band and began touring and appearing at many local jazz festivals as well as television and radio broadcasts. In 1995 she received a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music, graduating with a bachelor's in jazz performance. Since moving to New York City in 2000, she has released the albums Introducing Alma (2004), Hours (2008), and Tonight (2013), and has appeared at venues such as the Jazz Standard, Scullers Jazz Club, Iridium Jazz Club, and Cecil's Jazz Club as well as festivals and concert halls in the United States and internationally. Ms. Micic has been featured in Downbeat, JazzTimes, Jazzwise, and All About Jazz, the Boston Phoenix, Boston Globe, and The New York Times. Honors include the Cleo Laine Award for Outstanding Musicianship and BRIO Award from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
