To honor, inspire and celebrate those who have survived abuse, as of today, April 6th, 2013, I'm giving away another track from this album entitled, 'I Choose Me', aka 'You Better Think Twice', which was inspired by a dear friend who overcame a situation that wasn't easy to fight. When I asked my friend 'how did you beat this thing?' the reply was simply, 'well, I just decided to choose me'. That little answer gave me fuel to write two versions of 'I Choose Me', a simple, almost unplugged version, and a more powerful, take charge, 'put the world on notice version' 'I Choose Me' aka 'You Better Think Twice'. Don't be fooled by the soft easy opening of '....Think Twice' because before the song is over, it turns into a rejoicing musical affirmation with a statement of purpose and intent that can stick with you forever. Congratulations to all abuse survivors for making such a strong committment to yourself and your own best interests! The most purchased track from this album, by a margin of about 2 to 1, is the acoustic version of 'Now I Can Be Me'.** The next most purchased track is the full instrumentation version of 'I Choose Me', AKA 'You Better Think Twice'. The next most purchased song is 'Where Does This Anger Come From?'. As of today 2-3-13, I'm giving away this song as a free download here at cdbaby in order to possibly help prevent violence. My thought is that if folks listen to the words in this song, study them, learn them and apply them to their life, then they might be able to discover the real source of their anger and talk it out with someone to resolve the underlying issue rather than displaying anger at some innocent victim who doesn't deserve to be a part of that anger. This new metaphysical album was inspired after reading and hearing uplifting messages from 'new thought' / 'new age' authors and lecturers (such as Deepak, Louise, Wayne, Marianne, Joe, David and Dale), all across Phil's life from childhood and continuing well into his adult years. It's also based on the teachings of some great spiritual leaders, (Jesus & Budha to name two), who proclaimed a similar message, in varying words, which basically amounted to 'As you think, so shall you be'. On this CD, the message is boiled down even further to four little words, 'Change Inside Outside Follows'. The songwriting for this album began as much as ten years ago (part-time of course) and the actual making / recording of this CD was in process well over five years (on and off). After writing and rewriting, and after dotting all of the i's and crossing all of the t's, it is finally ready for presentation. The reason for having two different styles (genres) of each song is in case the listener prefers one type of music over another and finds it easier to sing along with one or the other. The second reason for repeating each song was to raise the retention level up a notch. The hope is that as you go through your daily routine and run into certain situations, the appropriate song will pop into your head and create a new focus point, perhaps relieving some tension in the process of singing the song that fits the occasion. After hearing these songs for a few weeks, the listener might be very surprised at how often the positive affirmation messages will start playing in the brain. After all, we learned the alphabet by singing the ABC song, and what a great way to learn a new way of thinking to produce a new behavior! Maybe you could use a little dose of positive reinforcement some times. Hopefully this music will give you that boost to create a new life, or improve an old one. Maybe this CD will assist someone in becoming more assertive and realize that they count too, so they can declare their independence. Or it might just help someone discover how to get rid of that built up, useless anger and have more fun! Some of the more memorable lines in these songs include: From 'I Keep On Creating (My Life)'. . . . I can change the thoughts inside my brain, I am in charge of how I feel today From 'I'm Improving My Life' . . . . I have set my sights just right, I know where I want to be **From 'Now I Can Be Me' . . . . If I stay true to myself, I know I'll be on the right road From 'I Choose Me' . . . . When I'm facing choices, it's time for me to be, honest with myself, I choose me From 'You Better Think Twice'. . . . If you think I'm naive, you might think I'm nice, if you think I'm easy, you better think twice From 'I'm A Soul' . . . . I take the time, to make my life worthwhile, by doing what I love, and that makes me smile From 'Where Does This Anger Come From?' . . . . If my truth hurts someone, better them than me From 'Change Inside Outside Follows'..The wise old man said.. When you throw away old point of view you'll see things new Whatever may prompt you to buy this CD or any tracks, and listen on a daily basis, the sincerest hope is that it will assist you to overcome and master the obstacles that have kept you from being what is truly in your heart. If this album comes down to one truth, that truth would be, 'this is my life and I'm in charge of it!' Phil would love to hear your success stories after you've listened to the album.
