Low Tide Drifters: New Hard Time Blues

Low Tide Drifters: New Hard Time Blues
Title: New Hard Time Blues
Label: CD Baby
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS

With a host of traditional instruments and carefully-crafted lyrics, the Low Tide Drifters create original roots-based songs that reflect the experiences and struggles of everyday working people. Influenced by socially-conscious folk-singers like Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Utah Phillips, the contemporary sounds of alternative-country, and the "do-it-yourself" ethos of the independent music scene, they bring a respect for the past and concern for the future to their music. Their newest album 'New Hard Time Blues' has been a labor of love. It was created at home over the span of nearly a year and each song is carefully mixed to reflect the way the Low Tide Drifters really hear the songs themselves. The album was mastered at Knack Mastering by the talented Kim Rosen. NHTB is an album of songs, a little to the left on the political spectrum, that tell stories without preaching. The Low Tide Drifters remind us of their NW roots with songs like 'Trail Bride,' a song about the Oregon Trail, and 'Lincoln County Blues,' a song about an economically depressed area on the Oregon Coast. Their songs 'Every Stitch' and 'A Prayer for Josseline' venture out of the Northwest, but exemplify the band's excellent storytelling and penchant for telling stories that need to be heard. Since forming in 2007, the Low Tide Drifters have performed everywhere from folk festivals, fairs, and coffee-houses to benefit concerts and fundraisers for human rights organizations, labor unions, and other community-minded organizations. They have shared the stage with nationally recognized acts such as acclaimed duo Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, hit songwriter Steve Noonan ("Buy For Me the Rain"), and Mark Ross (featured on the Grammy-nominated "Singing Through the Hard Times: A Tribute to Utah Phillips"). Known for their energetic shows, humorous on-stage banter, and impeccable songwriting, they are one of the Pacific Northwest's finest Americana bands. With a tasty blend of home-grown Oregon music, the Drifters put their whole hearts into what they do.' ~Karen Olch, Acoustic Junction, KRVM-FM, Eugene, Oregon "Rough and tumble with a whole lotta heart, to me the Low Tide Drifters are Oregon. What stands out about this group is their song writing; they've an uncanny ability to seamlessly fuse traditional sounds with their compelling, contemporary poetry. Between Kate Downing's unapologetic rambler-girl vocals and the intricate lines of the backing musicians, the Drifters create a sound that is as independent as any Lakeview cowboy, as moody blue as any Astoria beach and as familiar as a Coast Range homestead on a warm July night.' ~Melissa Ruth, Singer-Songwriter.
