'Hommage' Itamar Erez & the Adama Ensemble Itamar Erez- piano, guitar & composition Yoram Lachish- oboe & English horn Yorai Oron- acoustic bass Dani Benedikt- drums Special guests: Omar Faruk Tekbilek- ney flute Shlomo Deshet- percussion Yehuda (Shuky) Shveiky- vocals Eran Horwitz- electric bass All tracks written and arranged by Itamar Erez 'Hommage' includes pieces that are tribute to musicians who influenced Itamar Erez's music over the years, such as Egberto Gismonti, Anouar Brahem, Lulo Reinhardt, and others. Among the guest musicians on that CD is the great Sufi maestro Omar Faruk Tekbilek. 'Hommage', although recorded and completed in 2010, actually started back in 2006, just after the recording of my debut CD 'Desert Song' with the Canadian 'Adama Ensemble'. There was a feeling of opening into new avenues of expression for me as a composer and for us as a group... Egberto Gismonti was a musical hero for me since I was 18. I remember listening to his 'Solo' album then, and being so inspired by his music. 'Hommage' is a tribute to this great composer. Thank you Egberto for your encouragement and support. Playing with Omar Faruk Tekbilek has been a blessing in my life and 'Omar'a' (which means in Turkish- To Omar) is dedicated to him with love. Thanks Omar! Lulo Reinhardt's passion and joy of playing and his playful nature is truly contagious... 'Choro for Lulo' was composed after returning home from one of the tours we did together. Thanks Lulo! Anouar Brahem & Vicente Amigo- thanks for the inspiration and for your beautiful music! I am delighted to have some very special guest musicians on this album... Many thanks to Omar Faruk Tekbilek for his masterful ney playing; to Shlomo Deshet for his vision and dedication to this project from day one; to Eran Horwitz and Yehuda (Shuky) Shveiky, who added their magical touch and 'duende' to 'Prisoner's Song'.
