Sally Oldfield's musical career began in 1968, with The Sallyangie, a duo formed with her younger brother Mike. Both Sally and Mike were fans of Bert Jansch and John Renbourne (both part of Pentangle). The Sallyangie launched Mike Oldfield's career, while Sally had to wait until 1978. Sally Oldfield became well-known in the progressive rock scene because she provided her brothers first four albums. With her fourth album "Playing In The Flame", Sally Oldfield moves further to the mainstream although "Love Of A Lifetime" and "Song Of Being" are vintage Oldfield with some celestial string synths coating the fade out. "Song Of The Lamp" may be her most reverent song to that point, thanks partially to it's hymn like chorus.
