Megumi Kopp began accompanying West Hawaii Dance Academy's ballet classes in 2005 with the encouragement of her friend and West Hawaii Dance Academy instructor, Midori Satoh. Inspired by the studio's view of Kona's glorious Gold Coast, and with careful guidance by WHDT's Artistic Director Virginia Holte, Megumi has arranged some of Hawaii's most beautiful and rarely heard compositions to fit an hour and a half ballet class. One cannot help but to stretch a fondu a bit further with hearing KUU IPO I KA HEE PUE ONE (Proudly riding on the crest of the ocean) or executing a perfect pirouette to KE ALOHA IHIKI MAI (Flower Of My Heart). Even if not practicing ballet, just listening to this CD brings images of swaying palm trees and the luscious smell of plumeria flowers. 'Ballet Class: Piano Music from Hawaii' marks Megumi Kopp's debut CD presentation. The CD was recorded on a Bosendorfer Concert Grand Piano at the Atherton Performing Arts Studio, Hawaii Public Radio, Honolulu, Hawaii on December 3, 2010.
