Lowell Talks Writing New Singles & Making Horror Films On Tower's Live Show

Singer/songwriter Lowell joined Tower's Instagram Live show, hosted by Whitney Moore, to talk about her recent single "Lemonade" and gearing up for an album release in 2021. She's also worked on a horror film, Bloodthirsty, that's being screened at festivals this year and is likely to do more screenwriting work since horror is a favorite genre of hers.

Lowell not only performs her own music but is a gold and double platinum-selling songwriter for other artists, inlcuding JoJo, Demi Lovato, Charlie Puth, Bülow, and Madison Bee. The pandemic has definitely affected her creative process, she says, since she likes to write songs about her feelings, but there's only so much you can reference from the overwhelming events in the world right now without sounding a little contrived. She's torn because she wants to be "honest" but also doesn't want to be "exploitative" in her work.

Lowell finds that she's been writing "daily" and hasn't fully decided what will be released and what will not be released of her current output. She'd like to be a little more "spontaneous" with releases though. She actually likes working remotely, and at least at the moment doesn't mind being away from LA, so she is likely to take some lessons from this time and continue to collaborate and work from greater distances, too!
