Hans Peter Moland directs this bleak thriller about a jaded urban writer named Henrik Larsen whose taste for adventure and adversity makes him leave his cozy Oslo flat for a perilous Arctic adventure. He joins a fur trapping expedition with two other men, a crude, foul mouthed hunter named Randbaek (Skarsgard) and a scientist named Holm, and heads out to Greenland with them. Ignored by both at first, Henrik soon becomes the object of Randbaek's derision as the trapper regales him with imagined tales of his girlfriend's sexual indiscretions, causing the tension that has already developed between the men to soar to murderous heights. As each man becomes more and more frustrated with the other, their inability to rely physically or psychologically on one another hinders their ability to survive in a hostile environment and forces a violent and stunning confrontation.
