A notable artist in the new wave of Swedish pop auteurs, amongst them El Perro Del Mar, Robyn, and Peter, Bjorn & John, all of whom began gaining international attention in the mid-`00s, Lykke Li performs understated electro-pop tunes whose catchy, hook-heavy song structures recall the extroverted pop arias of fellow countrymen ABBA but whose withdrawn lyrical aesthetic and slightly lo-fi soundscapes nods towards the cloistered introspection of indie rock. Lykke Li's initial efforts, 2007's LITTLE BIT EP and 2008's YOUTH NOVELS, both featured production from Peter, Bjorn & John's Bjorn Yttling.

On her 2008 debut, YOUTH NOVELS, indie-pop singer Lykke Li stakes out territory somewhere between the coy breeziness of fellow Swede Victoria Bergsman (Taken By Trees, ex-Concretes) and the playful eccentricity of Bjork. Produced by Peter, Bjorn & John's Bjorn Yttling, NOVELS boasts a crystal-clear sound that allows the nuances of Li's kitten-like voice to emerge, particularly on the sassy "I'm Good, I'm Gone" and the irresistible "Little Bit."
