Title Note

Roky Erickson, the former frontman of the 13th Floor Elevators, is the elder statesmen of American psychedelic music. Sadly, what makes Erickson's music so trippy and intriguing is partly due to his struggles with mental illness, drug use, and the after-effects of institutionalization. That all makes for a fascinating story, though, and its captured in the 2007 documentary YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME. The accompanying soundtrack provides an excellent introduction to Erickson's extensive catalog, and features key tracks from the aforementioned psych-garage band (the blistering title track) and his work with backing band the Aliens (the creepy, howling "Two Headed Dog"). The album also features two previously unreleased tracks, "For You" and "Goodbye Sweet Dreams."
