Review

Dirty Linen (p.79) - "Nelson successfully summons the ghosts of Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline as she turns her soulful alto to 11 covers and one original..."
No Depression (p.99) - "[S]he sounds like she's making the kind of music she likes to hear, songs she loves to sing, whether revealing a supple upper register...or collaborating with Guy Clark and Alice Newman Vestal...."

Title Note

Personnel: Tracy Nelson (vocals, background vocals); Alice Newman Vestal, Guy Clark, Reba Russell, Vickie Carrico, Terry Tucker (vocals); Robert M. Britt (guitars); Fats Kaplin (pedal steel guitar, mandolin, violin); Steve Conn (accordion, piano); Byron House (bass guitar); John A. Gardner (drums).

Over the course of her decades-spanning career, Tracy Nelson's strong and bluesy vocals have tackled, with aplomb, a variety of Americana styles: country, folk, blues, rock, Cajun, and whatever else felt right for a particular song. On this 2007 release, the singer/songwriter's diamond voice once again sparkles from a range of settings, including Western swing ("Cow Cow Boogie"), light zydeco ("Oh, Lonesome Me") and good ol' Johnny Cash country ("I Still Miss Someone").
