Mesh Match For "You Can Tune A Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish" CD by REO Speedwagon:

REO Speedwagon Artist Snapshot:

Though the Champaign, IL group REO SPEEDWAGON eventually became known as one of the preeminent stadium-rock bands of the late 1970s/early '80s, they started out at a grass-roots level as a hardworking local act. On REO's early-'70s albums, their pure American sound hinted at the hard-rock style of bands like the James Gang (whose Joe Walsh guested on RIDIN' THE STORM OUT). By the end of the decade, however, they had adopted a more commercial sound bolstered by power ballads like "Keep on Lovin' You," which broke them through to stardom in 1981. Returned to the top of the charts in 1985 with yet another power ballad "Can't Fight This Feeling."

REO Speedwagon's 1978 release, the humorously-titled YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO BUT YOU CAN'T TUNA FISH, proved to be one of the band's last true rock-based albums before the band set its sights on a more commercially-based direction in the '80s.

The album became one of REO's best sellers of the '70s (a decade in which the band was better known for their live shows than any hit singles), and showed that they were finally breaking through to a wide audience. Two REO classics reside here--the rockers "Roll with the Changes" and "Time for Me to Fly," making YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO BUT YOU CAN'T TUNA FISH a pivotal album in REO's career.
