Title Note

Includes liner notes by Sean Dinsmore.

This trance-minded, global-chill set makes a typical yoga session feel like a day at a trendy beachside spa. It's the perfect disc for yoga as the morning sun rises and the surf rolls in the background, even if such features are only in the awakening mind. World beats, indigenous voices, chants, sitars, flutes, bells, and whistles combine on "Nadia" by Nitin Sawhney. TJ Rehmi and Ravi Bal mix deep Banghra beats with wild snake-charming flutes on "Bajaman." The Dum Dum Project assembled this worthy collection and contributes two tracks, with a beautiful female voice invoking spirits over the smooth Goa Trance-esque tabla and chime samples. A second disc features a guided meditation by David Life and Sharon Gannon, the founders of New York's famous Jivamukti Yoga Center. As anyone who's been there knows, they provide much more than merely a guide through breathing, asanas, and chanting. A whole world-view, history lesson, pep talk, and mystical invocation is wrapped up in their session. It's accessible, inspiring, beautiful, and very hip. A Spanish version is also included.
