On January 9, 2005, the WWE rang in the new year with a REVOLUTION showdown held in in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The jam-packed event featured some of the fiercest wrestling action around, including an exciting matchup between Kane and Gene Snitsky; Muhammad Hassan versus Jerry "The King" Lawler; an Intercontinental Title Match between Shelton Benjamin and Maven; a Women's Championship Match between Lita and Trish Stratus; a World Tag Team Match with William Regal and Eugene versus Christian and Tyson Tomko; and an Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship between Triple H, Batista, Edge, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and Chris Benoit.
