This 2-CD release from Sizzla is split into live and studio sets. The gifted young DJ is nothing if not prolific, seemingly releasing a new album every other month. His considerable lyrical gifts are highlighted throughout. Produced by his mentor, Phillip "Fatis" Burrell, one of reggae's prime producers, the melodies are particularly striking, the lyrics fresh.
What's noteworthy is the live Disc Two: though Burrell's studio productions are first rate, Sizzla's talent can obviously stand without embellishment. Pairing Sizzla's raw chanting with sweet, "I-Three"-style female backing vocals brings this engaging artist's his fire and brimstone style into sharp relief; next month's album will be awaited with interest.
