Alt-folkie singer-songwriter Patrick Watson's WOODEN ARMS is a quirky but likeable collection of songs recorded with a variety of found sounds, homemade instruments, and oddball noisemakers. It's not a gimmicky record, however, as the extra-musical sounds are put to the use of a solid set of understated, quiet indie-folk tunes. Highlights include "Man Like You," "Machinery of the Heavens" and "Tracy's Water."
