Although new age music is most often associated with dreamy keyboards, synthesizers, and a simple musical palette, guitarist Alex de Grassi brought much success to the Windham Hill label with his melodically complex and unpredictable writing and playing. Though softer-edged than jazz, his music can be buoyant, jaunty, and quietly reflective, all within the space of a song. This collection---part of Windham Hill's "Pure" series--gathers his finest moments during his tenure there, including an innovative reworking of one of Erik Satie's Gymnopedies.
