Album Description

The trio opens the set with Stompin’ at the Savoy (Sampson, Goodman and Webb), a fresh new take on a classic jazz chestnut. Tea and Watercolors (Keezer) is an original inspired by a friend's apartment by the sea, suffused with aromas of brewing chai spices and boldly colored walls decorated with homemade paintings. Koikugari Bushi (Sadao China) is a celestial composition where Geoffrey gives his audience a glimpse into his love of Okinawan music. The trio excites the crowd with Mirrim (Keezer), a catchy original composition that is a ‘fasten your seat belt’ showcase of the strong musicianship of the trio. On Venus As A Boy (Björk) Geoffrey brings an ‘island easiness’ to this popular singers’ composition. The Kindest Soul (For J.W.) (Keezer) is a warm gesture to one of his life teachers, the late, great pianist James Williams. Black and Tan Fantasy (Ellington/Miley) is a freshly polished nugget from the treasure chest of the late, great Duke Ellington. The trio swings full on. The set closes with two compelling originals by Geoffrey. Ghost in the Photograph (Keezer) conveys visions of an old ballroom in a forgotten hotel, with sepia toned photographs on the wall of dancers long departed - or maybe the apparition that appears if someone dashes in front of a camera set to long exposure. Breath of the Volcano (Keezer) was inspired by a volcano in Japan that breathes sulphur smoke from its boiling, craggy nostrils.
