Vinyl LP also known as the gramophone or phonograph record is an analogue audio storage medium usually in the form of a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) flat disc.
Unlike newer technologies such as CDs, vinyl records are played starting near the edge of the disc and ending near the center label. There are many different variations of the vinyl record, mostly varying in dimension and playback speed, but the 45 minute standard disc measures 30 cm and is played-back at 33 1/3 rpm (revolutions per minute).
Due to certain aesthetic audio qualities and analog audio playback, the Vinyl LP remains the medium of choice for many audiophiles and DJs.
