The e-book (electronic book) is the digital media equivalent of the conventional printed book. Similar to the digital book format, reading an e-book requires an e-book device or personal computer. There are several advantages to this format (as opposed to a printed book) such as the fact that hundreds to thousands of digital books may be stored on the same device thus guaranteeing added physical space for storage and a large reading selection on the go.
Another advantage of the e-book format is that the text size and font can be adjusted to suit the reader's needs and reading in low or no light situations are made possible by means of a back light. In addition, text-to-speech software can convert e-books into audio books automatically.
Finally, if you're thinking green, although they require electricity to read, the digital book does not consume paper, ink and other resources that printed books necessitate.
