DualDisc is a double-sided optical disc product that features an audio layer similar to a CD on one side and a standard DVD layer on the other.
On one side of the DualDisc is the full-length CD audio album. The other side offers DVD content. This may include enhanced album audio, 5.1 surround sound, music videos, artist interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, documentary films, photo galleries, lyrics, computer-ready digital song files, and Web links.
Since 2004 several releases have been and are being offered in a DualDisc format. This format has proved to be fairly widespread as it was initially developed by EMI Music, Universal Music Group, Sony/BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and 5.1 Entertainment Group.
The DualDisc format specifications are that of a CD on the CD layer and a DVD on the DVD layer.
