Product note

Audio Mixers: Chris Steffen; Danny Kalb; Chris Owens.
Audio Remasterer: Greg Calbi.
Recording information: Eldorado Recording Studios,Los Angeles Ca.
The beginning of a new era for Ben Harper, 2009's WHITE LIES FOR DARK TIMES is co-credited to Relentess7, the ensemble that the alt-rock hero assembled after placing his long-time Innocent Criminals backing band on hiatus. On these 11 tracks, Harper explores the edgier, amped-up side of his signature soul/rock/blues/folk fusion, settling into a fierce Led Zep stomp on "Number with No Name" and cruising along like Bo Diddley on "Why Must You Always Dress in Black." While the album is filled with a palpable sense of urgency, most notably on the ferocious "Keep It Together (So It Can Fall Apart)," Harper brings it to a gentle close on "Faithfully Remain," reinforcing his reputation as a dynamic and unpredictable performer.
