Review

Q (2/92, p.84) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "..a highly prized addition to the blues fold.."
New York Times (Publisher) (1/5/92, p.30) - "...demonstrate their mastery of soul, blues, rhythm-and-blues and gospel...the musicianship is rock solid...Wendell Holmes' bluesy, fluid guitar work, in particular, ignites these tunes..."

Title Note

The second release of the Holmes Brothers (following "In The Spirit", released in 1990.

The Holmes Brothers: Wendell Holmes (guitar), Sherman Holmes (bass), Popsy Dixon (drums).

After nearly two decades of performing in New York City in near-obscurity, the Holmes Brothers (Wendell and Sherman Holmes and Popsy Dixon) released their first major label album, IN THE SPIRIT, in 1989. Two years later, the brothers presented their highly acclaimed second LP, WHERE IT'S AT, once again blending elements of back-country blues, gospel, soul, and rockabilly. On WHERE IT'S AT, the band touches on classics by Sam Cooke ("That's Where It's At"), Henry Glover ("Drown In My Own Tears"), and Hank Williams ("I Saw the Light") with their signature fervor and exceptional artistry. Still, the original Wendell Holmes/Paul Kelly compositions shine the brightest.
