The Greyboy AllStars specialize in groove-oriented instrumental jams that fall somewhere between jazz and club music. The group's first studio outing in a decade, 2007's WHAT HAPPENED TO TELEVISION? found the ensemble still working as a tight, sympathetic unit and delivering the goods in their funk-inflected, retro-themed fashion (many of the tunes sound like they could fit easily on a '70s Blaxploitation soundtrack).

Group founder DJ Greyboy rejoins the band as co-producer, marking his first collaboration with the Allstars since their 1995 debut, WEST COAST BOOGALOO. The group's various members, including multi-instrumentalist and jam band circuit regular Karl Denson, are top-drawer musicians, and it's clear that their long hiatus from each other has more to do with busy schedules than with any lack of creative chemistry. WHAT HAPPENED is full of dynamic playing and tight, head-nodding grooves.
