While on a quest to get the Grand Master a carpet in exchange for knowledge, a young boy meets many interesting people along the way who share with him their own experiences and make him see that only he can give himself knowledge.

Annotation

In this retelling of a Sufi tale, a book seeks knowledge from a Grand Master. The Grand Master agrees to share his knowledge with the boy only if the boy can get him a carpet. The boy's trip to the carpetmaker sets off a chain of interconnected events which eventually ends with the boy bringing the Grand Master his requested carpet. Will the Grand Master now reward the boy's request for knowledge? Colorful collage illustrations accompany the text.
