Hailing from the West Side of Chicago, Eddy "the Chief" Clearwater has been turning out good-time down-home blues-with doses of rock & roll, country, and soul--since the 1950s. Age has done little to soften Clearwater's slashing guitar work, as 2008's WEST SIDE STRUT surely attests. From "A Good Leavin' Alone," which kicks off the album with a ferocious stomp, to the gospel-drenched "A Time for Peace," Clearwater has strengthened, rather than strayed from, his roots. Brimming with fine, soulful playing, WEST SIDE STRUT is a no-nonsense blast of blues from one of the genre's well-seasoned veterans.
