No Age Artist Snapshot:

This Los Angeles-based lo-fi/noise-punk duo made waves as part of the growing L.A. art rock scene of the early 2000s. While their contemporaries looked more toward straight noise or mangled synth stylings, No Age allowed actual pop melodies to creep into their wall of sound. The band released a series of a singles that were later re-released in 2007 on Fat Cat Records as the WEIRDO RIPPERS album. Sub Pop records would release the band's proper full-length debut a year later.

Title Note

Los Angeles-based art rock duo No Age make a joyful noise on their debut CD released on Fat Cat in 2007. Made up of five blink-and-you-miss-'em vinyl-only EPs released earlier in 2007, WEIRDO RIPPERS walks a fine line between art-damaged atmospherics, improvised squalls of electronic noise, and anthemic no-fi basement rock. This is the sound of art being made, without any considerations to commercialism or accessibility. Yet despite the nihilistic m.o., No Age produce a surprisingly enjoyable and strangely uplifting racket.
