Album Description

The "world's forgotten boy" finally gets his due on WE WILL FALL: THE IGGY POP TRIBUTE. Brought together by a mutual love for the Ig, the assemblage of artists mixes downtown Manhattan vets with newer bands, covering material ranging from Pop's Stooges days right up through his checkered solo career.
The better-known songs of the Pop canon receive straight-forward readings by NY Loose ("Lust For Life"), Lunachicks ("The Passenger") and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts ("Real Wild Child"), but the most interesting tracks are the ones given an unorthodox treatment. Highlights include the electronica approach on the Adolph's Dog (aka Blondie) version of "Ordinary Bummer" and Lenny Kaye's funereal reading of the title track. What makes WE WILL FALL such an effective tribute is the way all the bands involved tear heartily into this grab-bag of aggression rather than taking a kid-gloves approach towards the Godfather Of Punk's oeuvre.
