Review

The Times - "Musically, the album hints at Wilco and late-period Replacements, pulling off the neat trick of sounding gentle and urgent at the same time"

Product note

'We Used To Think The Freeway Sounded Like A River' is the eighth album from acclaimed Oregon act Richmond Fontaine. Produced once again by JD Foster (Calexico, Nancy Sinatra) the album sees Willy Vlautin's lyrical tales of the desperate lives of ordinary people backed by the band's trademark alt-country sound. While there's a literary quality to the writing here, the songs are interspersed with sympathetic instrumental passages. The single 'You Can Move Back Here' is also included.
