Two of the master country singer-songwriter Tom T. Hall's most accomplished albums are gathered on this budget-priced twofer, which includes such miniature gems as the acerbic "She Gave Her Heart to Jethro (and her body to the whole damn world") and the insightful, sensitive "Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine." Hall, who scored a variety of hits throughout the 1960s, '70s, and '80s, is one of American country music's greatest songwriting treasures, and this set is a fine introduction to the man who wrote "Harper Valley P.T.A." and "I Miss a Lot of Trains."
