Recorded at Column One Recording, Springfield, Missouri.

The Skeletons had been together, in one form or another, for well over a decade by time of WAITING. Based in Springfield, Missouri, they became critics' favorites when they emerged in the late '70s. They disbanded, reappearing (with slightly different personnel) as the Morrells, before resuming as the Skeletons. They've been the backing band on albums by Syd Straw, Boxcar Willie, Jonathan Richman, rockabilly singer Rudy Gazell, and others. This album perfectly captures all their wonderful strengths. With two keyboards in the line-up, this quintet has a breadth that they put to good use on a wide range of material. Eight of the selections are band originals, including the catchy "Things We Need" and the good-natured boast "That'll Work." They cover songs from the catalogs of Sonny Bono, the Easybeats, Merle Haggard, the Beach Boys, and many others.
