As poet laureate of the working class, singer/songwriter Bruce Springsteen infuses his trademark brand of high-energy rock with lyrical tales detailing the pathos of the common man in a style reminiscent of his idols Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. Springsteen's powerful narrative skills make him the perfect candidate for VH1's popular STORYTELLERS series, which intersperses stripped-down acoustic performances (ala MTV's UNPLUGGED) with candid personal commentary on the artistic process behind the songs. Recorded on April 5, 2005, at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey, this program presents Springsteen's STORYTELLERS appearance in a special edition that has been greatly expanded and reedited from its original broadcast episode to include the complete versions of all eight songs (including a duet with his wife Patti Scialfa on "Brilliant Disguise"), insightful between-song banter, and an intimate question-and-answer session that was previously unaired.
