Like most post-grunge outfits, Everclear have made a career from songs with a giant guitar-driven sound and anthemic choruses. That approach holds for THE VEGAS YEARS, a collection of 15 cover tunes. Frontman Art Alexakis and company don't do anything too fancy with these covers outside of amping them up and boosting the backbeat, but it's the choice of songs that makes THE VEGAS YEARS a fun ride.

Everclear playing Hall & Oates? Everclear playing the Go-Gos? Everclear playing Thin Lizzy, Neil Young, Woody Guthrie, and "867-5309?" The novelty is unlikely to carry for those who don't dig Everclear's rock stylings to begin with, but fans of the group will find much to love in this good-natured romp through the fun and familiar.
