If you're already a fan of The Secret Stars, then you've probably stopped reading this by now and are already feverishly searching the racks for this disc. Geoff Farina is one-half of The Secret Stars and it's his personality that dominates their intimate and haunting recordings. Even without the vocals of Jodi Buonanno (the other half), this still sounds much like that band; spare, sad and melodic. The lyrics are a stream of melancholy that give vague, translucent impressions of events and feelings. This disc is virtually just Geoff and his guitar, playing his great little weepy ballads. His vocals are unaffected and endearing, and the songs are embellished with gentle guitar overdubs. The perfect soundtrack for failed romance.
