Following a near four-year hiatus since their last studio album, 2005's DON'T TREAD ON ME, 311 have returned with the highly anticipated UPLIFTER, an album front man Nick Hexum has referred to as "the heaviest 311 has ever been." Bolstered by Bob Rock's brawny production hand, the band's ninth studio outing delivers the sonic goods; from the searing, heavy rock choruses of "Hey You," to slashing distortion on the relatively straight-ahead skanking reggae number "Mix It Up," UPLIFTER offers the vibrancy and excitement of their early recordings combined with the high level musicianship of a veteran touring band at the top of their game.
