The Legendary Pink Dots: Edward Ka-Spel (vocals); April Iliffe, The Silverman, Mick Marshall, Roland Callaway, Patrick Q. Paganini, Stret Majest Alarme.

Recorded at Chez Dots, London, England, between 1980 and 1984.

Before moving to Amsterdam in 1982, the Legendary Pink Dots were an always-fluctuating London collective--at one point there were two distinct lineups of the band using the name at the same time--based around the long-running partnership of Edward Ka-Spel and Peter Knights. The 19-track compilation UNDER TRIPLE MOONS collects songs from the early homemade private-edition tapes the band made during this era.

These songs are synth-based quirky pop, similar to, but more unfocused than those which appeared on the group's first album, BRIGHTER NOW, with a pronounced space-rock vibe and hints of the more atmospheric, psychedelic, and much stranger music which would become the group's forte starting with 1982's THE TOWER. Highlights include the lengthy two-part "Premonition," which recalls Pink Floyd's late '60s soundtrack work, and the apocalyptic "A Lust For Powder," an early version of a song from THE TOWER.
