Title Note

Producers: Siouxsie & The Banshees, Hedges, Charles Gray, Stephen Hague.

TWICE UPON A TIME contains recordings from 1982 to 1992.

Includes liner notes by Jon Wilde.

Recording information: 1982 - 1992.

There's no dispute that Siouxsie Sioux is the founding den mother of the goth movement. And there is no finer introduction to the moody and mysterious music of Siouxsie And The Banshees than TWICE UPON A TIME: THE SINGLES.

Covering the band's evolution from deliciously dark and dreary ("Cities in Dust") to gothic goofballs ("Peek-a-Boo"), TWICE UPON A TIME demonstrates that the Banshees were not just mopesters, but (especially after the redoubtable Budgie joined on drums) but could also even crack a smile from time to time. This is especially evident on their excellent covers, especially the raved-up version of Iggy Pop's The Passenger. Even though later Siouxsie relied more on novelty than songwriting ("Kiss Them For Me"), the band put out an impressive body of work in its time. A great primer for the new fan.
