Stylistically, TROUBADOUR reflects K'Naan's panorama of musical influences--he rhymes over samples of Ethiopian jazz, rocks with Damian Marley on the Dancehall-flavored "I Come Prepared," kicks it old-school alongside Chubb Rock on "ABC's," and ventures into rock-rap crossover territory with Metallica's Kirk Hammet on "If Rap Gets Jealous." Still, it's K'Naan's powerful storytelling that carries the most weight as he flashes back to his childhood on "Somalia" and relates stories of his favorite cousin on "People Like Me." Mos Def, Chali 2na, and Adam Levine of Maroon 5 are also featured. The opening of the albulm got me hooked immediately "T.I.A" stands for This Is
Africa loved loved loved it, the lyrics in this tune was interesting and very
witty. The albulm holds the upbeat and dance tracks in a way which is not forced
but flows very well it then developes subtly into tunes which are though
provoking with issues such as war and poverty in "Somalia", his cousin left in
the war in "People Like Me" and a close that you can get to love song for Knaan
in "Fatima" a sad song about his first love who got killed by the somali gunmens
although sad this beat is joyous and reminiscing to the good times. My 3
favourite songs on this amazing albulm are "Waving flag"- anthem of our time,
"People Like Me" lyrical story teller and "15 minutes away" a very, very funny
song but underrated as usual. in the words of the great Knaan - You Can Pick Up
