Yngwie Malmsteen Artist Snapshot:

Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen is considered one of the most technically proficient guitarists in rock history. Thought of by many as the king of shredding--the high-speed, ultra-precise style of metal guitar soloing--Malmsteen combines heavy-metal/hard-rock histrionics with both the compositional grandeur of classical music and a perfectionist technique that borders on flawless. Although his music is often absurdly excessive, there is no denying that, as a solo artist and with his band Rising Force, Malmsteen has set the standard for six-string pyrotechnics from the 1980s on.

Title Note

With a cover that is perfectly evocative of its music, Yngwie Malmsteen's TRILOGY boasts an illustration of the Swedish metal guitar hero battling a three-headed dragon. Not surprisingly, the album is filled with high drama and fantastical themes, whether Malmsteen is presenting a passionate power ballad (the opening "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget") or charging through a revved-up, solo-laden tune ("Magic Mirror"). Many of these tracks (including the aforementioned ones) feature vocalist Mark Boals, who belts out lyrics in classic hard-rock style, yet leaves room for Malmsteen's deft and ornate six-string pyrotechnics. Although it doesn't top RISING FORCE, TRILOGY is easily one of Yngwie's best outings.

5 out of 5 stars A pretty great album, November 23, 2007
By Adrian
This is a great album and a mandatory one for Yngwie fans. It contains Trilogy Suite Op. 5, one of Yngwies most famous intrumentals. This album is worth it for that track alone. The other songs on here are good, You dont Remember is pretty commercial, but besides that everything is Neoclassical metal.
