Balls-out rock and heavy-duty electric guitar riffology dominate THE TRICK, the Panthers' third full-length release. Abandoning the arty, progressive overtones and socially conscious punk stance of their earlier releases, the Panthers crank up the amps and let their long hair fly on this crunching batch of 10 tracks. There's a serious retro vibe throughout (the ghost of LED ZEPPELIN IV hovers over the proceedings), but the tunes, musicianship, and sheer head-banging rush of THE TRICK keep things fresh and fun from start to finish.
