These Florida bass-control freaks may very well have been instrumental in reviving the long lost art of early '80s electro (although some of their British and Detroit colleagues had a hand in it, too). Operating straight out of Miami, and working both well-worn and new-fangled bass synthesizer grooves like nobody's business, Soul Oddity have the hissing analog styles of Mantronix, Arthur Baker, and even archaic techno down pat.

TONE CAPSULE lurches across your stereo field. The tricky-dick beatboxes of "Little Alien" hint at extraterrestrials dancing to the beat of an apopleptic metronome, while "Welcome Back to Earth" tears through classic '80s Roland 808 and 303 drum machine beats. Great trippy stuff that presages outfits such as Mental Blox and much of the Rephlex crew.
