Recorded live in Japan, the TOKYO DAY TRIP EP finds guitar wizard Pat Metheny working with the supernova rhythm section of drummer Antonio Sanchez and bassist Christian McBride. Although these compositions were recorded by the same line-up in the studio for Metheny's 2004 release, DAY TRIP, the live interplay among these three musicians positively crackles.

There's plenty of stretching out and variety on the five tracks here. "Traveling Fast" speeds along with post-bop facility, "Inori" reveals Metheny's magic on acoustic guitar, and "Back Arm & Blackcharge" tackles rock-edged fusion. These recordings were previously available only as digital-only downloads and this CD release marks the first time that they've been brought together under one cover.
