On the surface, the instrumental makeup of Ramon Ayala's band (which includes bajo sexto, bass, and Ayala's accordion) and the familiar song structures may seem like simple folk music from rural Mexico. In truth, that is precisely what it is, and therein lies its appeal. TITERE EN TUS MANOS is full of beautifully languorous, mid-tempo songs, suitable for sentimental group sing-alongs.

Though less geared to high-octane dance tunes than other ranchera and Norteno music, the album still offers plenty of good times. Ayala and his band, Sus Bravos Del Norte, excel at classic Norteno, with Ayala's accordion leading the way for rich, sweet harmonizing and rhythms that range from polka-like tunes ("Me Quiero Emborrachar De Tu Carino") to swaying ballads ("Tu Falso Orgullo"). (There's even a Caribbean-flavored cut, "Y Bailando.") These beautiful corridos are examples of festive Mexican music at its finest.
